Do you remember those grammar rules in school?

You know, the ones that say things like, drop the /e/ and add /ing/ ???

In middle or high school, my grammar text book was a little red hardback book.
I hated that thing.
Really.
Grammar rules are just yucky.

But….a “rule” book I DO like is my Bible….God’s Holy Word.
Because when you apply this book to your life circumstances, the rule to know is:
Drop the /I don’t know/ and add /You know/.

This applies for when you are facing a crossroads/decision/situation, etc, and you decide to talk to God about it.

For example, change: I don’t know what to do about this decision I am facing.
To: You know what to do about this decision I am facing.

Change: I don’t know how I should respond to this person.
To: You know how I should respond to this person.

Change: I don’t know how I am going to pay this debt.
To: You know how I am going to pay this debt.

Change: I don’t know what church I should to attend.
To: You know what church I should attend.

Change: I don’t know what job I will be doing.
To: You know what job I will be doing.

A favorite Bible verse of mine (and many others) is found in the book of Jeremiah:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11

So many stop there, but I love the 2 verses that follow it as well:

“Then you will call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:12-13

Fellow beloved ones, we have no idea what tomorrow will bring. We face many decisions, many challenges, many crossroads, where we do not know what to do. BUT, we DO know The One who knows, and for me, that’s all I need to know.

So the next time you are in an “I don’t know what to do” moment, apply God’s rule and change it to a “You know what to do” moment, where you just talk to God about it. He promises that when we seek Him with all our heart, we will find Him. And when we find Him, we have all the answers we need.

I know this sounds confusing, but when I’ve turned to God about something, and sought His voice by getting into His Word, reading my Bible, the answer has always come through in one form or another, and you know when you have received an answer from God, because with His answer comes no doubt. None. Not even a trace of it. Which is just so awesome!

Disclaimer: God’s timing is not our timing. There may be times where you think that He is not listening, but I promise you, if you are seeking Him with your whole heart, He is listening—He just is not confined to our timeline. How do I know this? Because I learned the hard way, and since then, I’ve learned to trust Him completely.
(My lesson I learned the hard way can be found in my very first blog post, “A Skeleton From My Closet“.)
